The internet is in upheaval and Sony is already crowned as the winner of E3, only one day into the conference. Did Jack Tretton deliver the final blow to the Microsoft console empire last night? It may not have been the final one, but it was certainly the most significant one yet in the console war of the next generation. And then, Sony proceeded to do a victory lap with Microsoft’s golden goose of yesteryear, Bungie.

Skulls of the Shogun is the new turn-based strategy game just released on the Xbox LIVE Arcade as well as all Windows 7 and 8 platforms by developer 17-Bit. Generally speaking I have a pretty love-hate relationship with these types of games. As a lover of strategy and the contemplation and implementation of said strategy, these Final Fantasy Tactics’-style time-wasters should be right up my alley. I could never get into the majority of them, however. I think it has something to do with the grueling learning curve and massive penalty for failure, like having to start a 2-hour long battle over again from the beginning. Stuff like that always gave me the impression that the game was taking itself a little too seriously, you know, like the challenge of the game was subverting the fun? Maybe that was just me.

Whew, what a day that is now done. Finally, Sony wraps everything up allows me to exhale. Most reveals have been made today (with the exception of what Nintendo will bring tomorrow). And believe me when I say, this was the best conference yet. Despite all of the ridiculousness of the presenters, the presentation was a great success and by far the best I’ve seen today.

I told you we’d be back. So now, yet another giant that has nothing to do with peddling a major console is done with their main presentation. Let’s talk about it. Luckily enough, there weren’t a lot of that “Entertainment, not gaming” that Microsoft went for so it made for an overall exciting press conference.

Hell nerds, welcome to live updates from E3. Yeah, you’re probably watching it live and tweeting about it just like me (@heardaboutSerge), but for those who don’t have the luxury of hiding the stream at work. In any case, I will update you guys through the day on what happens through out the day. And here we go, Microsoft just got done, here is what you missed and here is what I think about it (like anyone cares about the latter).

Wow, I’m really missing this kind of thing. What a dedicated individual I am. In any case, with the lead up to E3 it seems like it is an appropriate time to take a little more of a break from these. Considering how busy I will be once E3 rolls around can anyone blame me? Well, Kevin probably can.
