Hi, I’m Serge. It’s okay if you don’t remember me. I used to write a lot for this site, now I write very little, and I’m desperately trying to fix that. In that attempt, here is my personal feature to say goodbye to the last generation of consoles. The Xbox One and the PS4 are finally here, and while there are only like, 15 games total on both , it is the dawn of a new era. With that being said, I actually started to think what games changed gaming for me in the last generation. Here is my list.

Next gen is almost here. So I’m going to jump in on the discussion about what we should expect from the next generation of titles, or at least what I want to expect. We’re used to consoles pushing the visuals into the next dimension over each iteration. Even more, that’s expected and a given. But what do we, as gamers, deserve or want to see from what’s on the horizon. I attempt to break that down in a few short and sweet paragraphs.

Lara Croft can be considered one of the elder statesmen (stateswomen?) of video games. She, along with Samus Aran and a few other notables are the original female leads of the digital world. Unfortunately  things have gotten stale for Ms. Croft over the years. She’s gone from a quality lead character to a stand-in on a b-class sitcom. Honestly, it was time for a reboot, but does it stack up against the series great titles.

Long time no see my dear readers (if I have any dear readers, otherwise, who cares). I was sitting in my room bored out of my head I realized that I haven’t really written anything since my DmC review. I’ve actually been more focused on my sports website than this, and then I realized – this sucks. For the most part, between school and everything I don’t have much time to write. Even more so I haven’t been writing about games unless it’s review time. Even though I complain loudly about games almost every day. So, this weekly little thing journalists usually call columns should be my outlet for all things gaming. Short (no more than 2 paragraphs per topic), sweet and just raw angry!

Resolutions

Some may say it’s a little too late, but I am pretty much right on time. We’re just into 2013 and the first major title (if you consider DMC a major title, which I do) is around the corner. There is a lot to look forward to this year: new console rumors, sequels galore, reinvention of indie gaming and of course Steam sales. But we as gamers have been somewhat negligent over the past few years as well. Perhaps a bit snobby, perhaps a bit too permitting when it comes to our gaming tastes. Sometimes this leads to us not even enjoying games anymore. Maybe we need to try and approach games differently in 2013.

I guess these are getting later and later aren’t they. Ironically, no, I am not writing from the west coast, because that would be the only thing that makes sense I guess. I’ll just ease myself with the fact that a lot of gamer folk doesn’t hit the hay until the late late night. To break up the monotony we mention some Facebook game news (trust me, facebook games are big… for non gamers), another major Elder Scrolls announcement, and a Saint’s Row the Third Expansion (about damn time). Plus, a little something special for those who read until the bitter end.

Only a week in and we’re already renaming the column to reflect the contents just a little bit more. Well, today was actually quite an eventful day after a somewhat mellow Monday. To do a quick preview of what you’ll find: trailers, trailers, a few more trailers, and a bit more news about what’s to come.
