With so much news happening in the industry we decided to do a Weekend Rewind of the important things that happened in the past week. This includes news, offers, deals, rumors and whatever else may be important or just interesting.

If you’re a follower of the site you’d know that we are huge fans of the Scott Pilgrim series. The games, the movies and the graphic novels. If you’re not a follower of the site then you should know we are huge fans of the Scott Pilgrim series. The games, the movies and the graphic novels. With that said; Autumn Games, a publisher of interactive entertainment will be working with game developer  Reverge Labs to develop Skullgirls, a new 2D fighting game that puts palyers in control af a female warrior. Mike “Mike Z” Zaimont (fighter extraordinaire)  and artist Alex Ahad, whose work has appeared in many publications, including Scott Pilgrim and Lava Punch will be working on the project as well.

With that said I’m not really a huge fighter-game kinda guy but I must admit this game looks great. The art style and direction seems to be going on the right path, for more information you may go to Skullgirls.com.

Sony’s ” Welcome Back” Package is a Go

After Sony’s network has been down for more than a month, Sony offered their new “Welcome Back Package” which grants players  2 free games for the PS3, 2 free games for the PSP , 30 days of Playstation Plus and free movie rentals. The Playstation Network and Playstation Store finally went live this week with some users encountering errors due to the high traffic on Sony’s servers. Seriously all you have to do i be patient.

The free Playstation 3 games Sony is offering are:

  • Dead Nation
  • inFAMOUS
  • LittleBigPlanet
  • Super Stardust HD
  • Wipeout HD + Fury

Free Games for PSP users are:

  • LittleBigPlanet (PSP)
  • ModNation Racers
  • Pursuit Force
  • Killzone Liberation

Users can download only 2 from the 5 PS3 games and 2 of the 4 the PSP games. I’ve already got my hands on my games, which ones will you choose?

Sony Offering Another Free Game

If your a PlayStation Plus member you get another free title: James Pond 2: Codename Robocod brought to you by System 3.

If you’ve never heard of James Pond 2: Codename Robocod it’s actually a fun/strange game that I remember playing on the Sega Genesis.  Although this offer is only for PlayStation Plus members don’t forget everyone gets free Playstation Plus for 30 days. So you can play this classic for free regardless.

Call of Duty “Elite”

Call of Duty is one of the most successful First-Person Shooters and with the announcement of Modern Warfare 3 gamers are either in “Yay” or ‘Nay” about the whole thing. What gamers didn’t expect was Call of Duty Elite. Activision plans to charge a monthly subscription fee for the the service , which will provide extra content for the newest title Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, this may include Downloadable map packs. Apparently the fee won’t be that much but personally I’m against this. Considering Xbox 360 users already pay $60 to play online and other companies are already charging an extra $10 for a game that was used to be able to play online. Here’s an idea…scrap the Xbox 360 Gold and just charge us for the games we want to play online.

Scarlet DLC Trailer for Mortal Kombat
